Sample Development

Back to Blogs

Making a sample isn’t just about looking at a photo and having a finished garment an hour later.
It’s a structured development process that takes time, precision, and several technical steps to achieve a professional result.

Steps in the development of a sample:

Photo or sketch analysis
Understanding the style, details, and expected finishes.

Technical sketch + annotations
Creating a clear drawing with precise indications about the garment’s construction.

Preliminary measurement chart
Defining approximate measurements for each part of the garment based on the chosen size.

First pattern creation
Pattern developed from the estimated measurements.

Prototype using test fabric
Sewing a first prototype using any available fabric to validate shapes.

Fitting and adjustments
Modifying the prototype and correcting the pattern based on fit, volume, and proportions.

Second prototype (if needed)
To confirm adjustments before finalizing the garment.

Finalization of the tech pack
Updating measurements and technical details for production.

Production of the final sample
Using the correct fabric, according to validated measurements and the final pattern.

Each step is crucial to ensure a faithful, well-constructed sample ready for production.
It’s a deep development process — not a quick turnaround.
